Berwyn "Bernie" Gosseck, age 97, of Omro, died Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Country Villa in Omro. He was born September 26, 1926, in Sheboygan to the late Mark and Eleanore (Braatz) Gosseck. Bernie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On September 25, 1948, he married Grace Hemke at the Concord Methodist Church in Concord, Wisconsin. Bernie had worked at Allis-Chalmers and then at A.O. Smith until his retirement in 1988, at which time he and Grace moved to Omro. Bernie was a wood crafter, and in his earlier years was a musician, playing the drums and saxophone with various bands. He enjoyed feeding the birds, and was still making scratch pads. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Omro, and American Legion Post 71 and VFW Post 9537, both in Pewaukee.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 75 years, Grace Gosseck, of Omro; children, Jill (Chuck) Stiller, of Omro; Jeff (Beth Ann) Gosseck, of Wales, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Holly (Drew) Kapla, Kevin (Mandy) Gosseck, Michael (Megan) Stiller, Tracy (Todd) Brinkman, Toni (Chad) Pugh, Ryan Timm (Hannah), Corrie Jablonski, Ross Timm, Andy Antoniewski; great-grandchildren, Addison, Zachary, Henry, Mason, Marshall, Benjamin, Olivia, Spencer, Noah, Harper, Kathryn, Lauryn, Tim, Maddie, and Jake. He is also survived by sisters, Millicent Gullickson, Sharon Vollmer, Marijane Flasch; sister-in-law, Lois Gosseck; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Bernie was also preceded in death by four brothers, Mark, Jerome, Romain, and Dennis Gosseck; and a sister, Muriel Benthien.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church 955 N. Webster Ave. Omro. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Travis Shafer officiating. Military honors and burial will follow at the Omro Cemetery.
