IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce Leslie
Hayry
August 15, 1947 – March 28, 2020
Bruce Leslie Hayry, 72, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2020. He went peacefully with his family by his side; he was a loving husband, father of four and grandfather of nine.
Bruce was born August 15, 1947, to Leslie and Viola (Lintula) Hayry in Marquette, MI. After high school graduation he enlisted in the Navy as an electrician aboard the USS Princeton. Upon coming home, he moved to Chicago to attend Coyne Electrical School during which time he met the love of his life, Pam, at the Veterans Administration. Marrying 11 months later, they began their joyous 50-year adventure together.
Bruce and Pam moved to Spencer, WI to raise their family where Bruce served as the Postmaster for 24 years. He always said, "What I miss most about working is the people." After retiring he drove school bus to stay involved in the community that he loved. Bruce had a passion for life and people, a great sense of humor and always tried to bring the lighter side of life into the day of all who crossed his path. Whether you needed someone to simply listen, something done, perhaps a pick me up joke, or a smile from the other side of your mailbox just to say hello, Bruce was always there.
Bruce modeled parenthood to his children by helping and often leading the organizations they were involved in. He was a long time Lions Club member, Church Youth Group Leader, Scout Master, helped organize the first Tiger Cubs Den and more.
Bruce and Pam moved to Winneconne, WI to be closer to their children after retiring. Although he had many passions, his greatest love was for the Lord and his family. He enjoyed the outdoors; boating, camping and traveling with his family and friends. He always looked forward to opening weekend deer hunting, working on home projects with his kids, a day on the boat cruising the lake with all who wanted to go, or a late night around the campfire with a few drinks and some good laughs. Bruce's family, and especially his grandchildren, were the joy of his life. Though he will be missed by so many, he'd want everyone to remember not to forget to slow down once in a while and take time for serenity. Perhaps just enjoy a cup of coffee on a cool spring morning watching the fish jump and listening to the birds sing as he did often with his wife.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pam Hayry; three children and their families, Jeff Hayry; Julie Argall, and her sons, Phillip, Jack and Will Argall; Greg and Lisa Hayry, and their children, Hudson, Aila, Parker and Bryson Hayry; daughter-in-law, Acie Hayry, and children, Alexis and Madox Hayry; a sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Gordon Hodgson; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Bruce in death were his parents; a son, Mark Hayry; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Pearl (Knedlik) Engle.
Because of the Coronavirus, we will celebrate Bruce's life when it is again safe to gather.
