Obituary

Daniel “Dan” Robert Kilgas, 69, of Neenah, WI, passed away on September 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Dan was born on February 1, 1957, in Kaukauna, WI, to the late Robert and Lucille (Hoefler) Kilgas. He graduated from high school and went on to receive a technical diploma in Tool and Die Making. Dan and Julie Ceelen started dating in 1983 and were married on August 27, 1988, enjoying a total of 43 wonderful years together.

Dan was known for his quick wit, craftsmanship, and empathy for others. For Dan, no job was too small, and if he didn’t know how to do something, he would figure it out, earning him the title “Mr. Fix-it”. This mindset was a cornerstone of Dan’s approach in his self-owned general contractor business, which wasn’t just a job, but a way for him to serve others.

Faith was an important part of Dan’s life—after developing a personal relationship with Christ in his mid-thirties, he avidly attended church each week, serving in men’s ministry and Awana for over 20 years at Calvary Bible Church.

In his spare time, Dan enjoyed putting his mind and hands to work—engaging in carpentry, gardening, fishing, camping, golfing, watching and playing sports, and playing card and board games.

Dan is survived by his wife, Julie Kilgas; children, Ashley Kilgas, Jessie (Nathan) Runge, and Cody Kilgas; granddaughters, Mabel and Louise Runge; siblings, Karl (Lynette) Kilgas, Ken Kilgas, Karol (Sam) Boe, Gary (Kathryn) Kilgas; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Dan will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd, Neenah. Details below:
