Darlene "Butchie" Koerner Larsen, WI Darlene "Butchie" Koerner, age 70 of Larsen, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011, at her home with her loving family at her side following a short illness. She was born on December 15, 1940, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Chester and Viola (Meiers) Westphal. Darlene graduated from Appleton West High School. She married Michael Koerner on February 11, 1961 at St Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. Mike and Darlene were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage this year. Darlene was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mills in Appleton for 20 years. Since 1971 they have made their home in Larsen. Darlene is survived by her husband, Michael Koerner, of Larsen; her daughters, DeAnna Foate, and her fiancé, Andy Null, of New London; Dawn and Michael Bronold, of Appleton; Doreen and Daniel Gill, of Hortonville; her sister, Audrey Kappell, of Kaukauna; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lucy Edwards, of Neenah; Frank and Judy Koerner, of Menasha; Sharon and Joe Kryszak, of Maple Park, IL; Chris and Don Laeyendecker, of Menasha; Dan and Debbie Koerner, of Menasha; Norma and Dennis Troudt, of Neenah; Vicki and Steve Loehning, of Neenah; Debbie Slomski, of Neenah; Philip Koerner, of Neenah; six grandchildren, Travis Gill, Jacob Gill, Bradley Foate, Ryan Foate, Mandee Foate, and Lisa Finkler; and a number of nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Larry Westphal; her step-mother, Ellie Westphal, her mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Anna and Martin Koerner; her sister-in-law, Audrey Koerner Westphal; and her brother-in-law, Steven Koerner. Darlene enjoyed making quilts with her friend Lorna O'Leary, and they were known as "The Cover Up Girls." She also enjoyed crocheting, bird watching, pets, monkeys, boating, solitaire, Packer games, NASCAR races, watching deer in her back yard, and spending time with her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Gordon Lane officiating. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services. Butchie's family would like to extend a special thank you to ThedaCare at Home and Hospice and also a special thank you to her very best friend, Pat Brink, who stayed by her side during her courageous battle. Thank you Lord for gracing us with the extra two weeks you gave us with her. You will be greatly missed by so many! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your love, and lessons in in life you taught us. We know you do not want us to be sad, So we'll say our tears are happy ones, knowing you are in Heaven waiting for us. Until we are together again... Good Night Irene, I'll see you in my dreams.
