Darlene Martha “Dot” Tanner, age 87 passed away at Bethel Home on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She was born to the late Tony and Ruth (Smerling) Achterberg on November 18, 1938, in Waukau, WI. She married Richard Tanner in 1957 shortly after graduating high school and they were together until his passing in 1997.
Dot, Richard, and their four daughters travelled all over the world and the United States for His Army Career being stationed in Germany, Maryland, Texas, Kentucky and Wisconsin. She worked many jobs over her career; however, her most cherished position was her work in the Gardening Center, where she worked to keep the plants ready for their customers. In addition to her gardening, Dot loved making ceramics and cooking many wonderful meals for her family. She also had a talent for sewing, her daughters remember the excentric patterns from the clothes she made from the curtains off the wall.
Dot is survived by three of her daughters, Pauline (Craig) Reinert, Tammy (Rick) Kallas, Cindy (Troy) Caver; sister, Judy Kallas; son-in-law, Don “Zeke” Zuehlke; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Dot was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Chris Zuehlke; and her grandson, Tim Zuehlke as well as sister, Ginny (Warren) Schuster; brother, Virgil Acherteberg and brother-in-law, Wayne Kallas.
Per Dot’s Wishes a cremation has taken place.
