David C. Christianson was born to earthly life on September 4, 1942, and to eternal life on September 26, 2026. He contracted German Measles when he was just over two years old, and that caused him to lose his hearing over the course of many years. He lived a productive life even with his disability.

Dave graduated from Neenah High School and Wausau Technical Institute with a degree in Residential Design Technology. He worked for many years in that industry with Great Lakes Home, Sheboygan Falls; Sterling Custom Homes, Fond du Lac; and Pyramid Estate Homes, Mayville (all in WI). When the housing industry tanked in the early 1980’s he left that occupation and became a custodian at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, Larsen, WI. He enjoyed all the jobs he worked at, but he especially loved his work at the church. He took over record keeping for the cemetery and loved solving the many mysteries about names and where people were buried. In his early 80’s he decided to turn the reins over to someone younger… although everything he had done single-handedly for many years was turned over to two people!

Hobbies that Dave enjoyed are his family; woodworking; designing homes; keeping cemetery records; reading; watching sports and DIY shows on TV; playing Sheepshead.

One big project Dave was very proud of was building a diorama. After retirement he used old wooden crutch pieces, designing a ¼ scale log house, barn, and church. All roof shingles were hand split by Dave (4,093 of them!). It took him about 4 months and approximately 382 hours to finish. The Winneconne News published several pieces about his log building, and from that he received several requests to display his work. Currently, all three buildings are on display at the Winchester Historical Society building in Winchester.

Something Dave was exceedingly proud of was the last house he designed, for his daughter Sue (Paul) and their family. It was a privilege and honor to be asked to do that for them. He noted that they were still talking after the house was built!

Dave is survived by his wife, Kate (Erickson) Christianson, whom he married on 12/26/1982. Three children, David (Josie) Baer, Timothy (Pamela) Baer, Susan (Paul) Penzenstalder; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Adan) Picazo, Hannah (Jon) Houston, Joseph (fiancée Molly Brown) Baer, Faye Baer, Kelly (Will) Bechtold, and Ryan (Delaney), Adam, Daniel (fiancée Brynn Morrill), Sarah, and Grace Penzenstadler. There are also 10 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Liam, Maggie, Norah and Bryce Peters; Cooper and Everly Bechtold; Oliver and Ellie Houston; and baby girl Penzenstadler due in November. He was an uncle to 6 nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Christianson and Norma (Johnson) Christianson; Kate’s parents, Kenneth and Loulla (Phillips) Erickson; and grandson, Benedict T. Baer; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service for Dave will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, 8396 Steeple Hill Dr, Larsen, WI, at 2:00pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm and continue until the start of the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery Beautification for trees, shrubs, ect.
