Obituary

Did you ever have a cup of coffee so perfect that you bought one for a friend?  A walk you wished you could share with the world?  A shelter dog that was so wonderful that you contemplated taking it home?

That was Davey Tuchscherer!  His eyes and heart overflowed with joy.  He didn't show up without a huge greeting.  Didn't walk away without a bounce in his step.  With a gift only God can understand, a room just got a little brighter when he walked into it.

It's with the heaviest of hearts that we need to let the world know that Davey lost his life on Friday, March 22, 2024, while riding his motorcycle in San Diego, California where he was based as a United States Marine.  At the time of his death, Davey and nine other Marines were enroute to a motorcycle mentoring event.

Davey attended Oshkosh Christian (Valley) from K-12 grade.  After graduation he went to UW-Oshkosh for two years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp.  Davey excelled in the Marine Corp, achieving the Naval Achievement Medal (NAM), Marine of the Quarter, along with a meritorious promotion to the rank of Corporal.  Prior to his death, Davey had been approached by his command to consider attending the Naval Academy, with his Major telling him he would be a "shoo in."

Davey's hobbies were varied.  He was a capable unicycle rider.  Loved to camp at Calumet County Park with his family and friends. Having grown up on Lake Winnebago, Davey spent many hours in a kayak, his micro tugboat or enjoying a cup of coffee in front of the lake.  More than anything, Davey loved spending time with family and friends and was always looking forward to the next chance he'd have to be with them.  Davey's "go to" when he was home was always the family German Shepherd - Zero.  He dreamed of the day when his life and schedule would allow for him to connect with, choose and train a German Shepherd of his own.

Davey is survived by his mother, Minimay Tuchscherer; his father, Dave Tuchscherer, Sr; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Star Tuchscherer; and his sister, Marie Ann Tuchscherer.  He is loved by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Military funeral will be held at Community Church, 2351 Ryf Road in Oshkosh, Saturday, April 6, 2024. Please join us for visitation with the family from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00.

Davey's father regrets being unable to dissuade Davey from buying and riding a street bike and asks all riders to reconsider their choice to ride road bikes.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to a charity you feel would best honor Davey.

Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family. If you wish, please submit condolences/memories to muellerfh.net.
