David "Dave" James Mathusek, Sr., age 80, of Franklin WI, died peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018. He was born in Milwaukee WI, graduated from Marquette High School and attended Marquette University. Dave served his country in the National Guard and the U.S. Army during the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Crisis. He loved the automobile industry and throughout 40 years, owned several businesses that revolved around it. Whether in Canada fishing, hunting in the north woods, playing cards, doing crosswords, or being undefeated in Scrabble, when done with family and friends, he was his happiest. Dave is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Myrna (Quandt); sons, Gerald, Robert, David Jr., and James (Billie Jo); grandchildren, Kristi (Tim), Kari (Cameron), Shannon (Chris), Mariah, Alexandra, Jordan, Tim, Morgan, Matthew, and Michael James; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Hailee, Max; brother, Daniel (Sylvia) Mattes; sister-in-law, Sharyn Monday; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding Dave in death were his parents, Max and Cecilia Mathusek; sister, Marcia Pintar his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frederick and Mabel Quandt. Per David's wishes, the immediate family gathered in a celebration of life and there will be no service held. Special thanks to the staff of the IRIS program, Luther Home of Milwaukee, and Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh for their care and concern.
