Harold R. Hansen, age 81, of Neenah, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010, at Valley VNA in Neenah. He was born August 8, 1929, in Fond du Lac to the late Harry and Genevieve (McCullen) Hansen. Along with his father and brother Donald, Harold operated Hansen's Red Owl Grocery in Winchester from 1948 until 1980. On November 24, 1984, he married Anna Mae (Erickson) Westby, and she preceded him in death on February 22, 2006. Harold was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne, the Winchester Hills Wednesday Night Men's Golf League, and the Medina/Dale/Readfield Lions Club, where he earned the Melvin Jones Fellow.
Harold is survived by one sister, Phyllis Zeinert, of Larsen; one brother, Donald Hansen, of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Donald Becker, of New Holstein; three step-sons, Paul and Gisele Westby, and their daughters, Julie and Kate, of Littleton, Colorado; Mark and Jan Westby, and their son, Colton, of New London; James and Karen Westby, of New London; one step-great-grandson, Caidan; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with his parents and wife, Harold was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Laurence Lambeseder, Lucille Becker, and Leonard "Red" Zeinert.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr., Winneconne, with Fr. Doug LeCaptain and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, October 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, and will continue on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Harold's name for the Alzheimer's Association.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Valley VNA Assisted Living, Theda Clark Medical Center, and ThedaCare At Home Hospice, for their dedication and kindness to Harold and his family.

Our sincere sympathy to the Hansen family. Harold was a fine man who was so enjoyable to be around. He was a gentle soul and we will miss him.

Harold was one of the finest men I have known. I never heard him say anything negative about anyone. I only wish I could have spent more time with him. He was a loving person and will be missed more than can ever be expressed.
