Diane Sue
Maki
May 3, 1954 — Nov 1, 2026
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Diane Sue Maki, 72. Beloved mother and grandmother who proceeded to eternal life on Sunday, November 1, 2026. After a short battle with lung cancer, Diane passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Diane was born May 3, 1954, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the late Ronald Barnes and Doris (Elendt) Barnes. She was a graduate of Winneconne High School, Class of 1972. On September 27, 1975, Diane married her high school sweetheart, Larry Maki.
Diane graduated as a surgical technician and worked for ‘Doc’ Sonnleitner in Oshkosh for several years. She enjoyed being a homemaker when her children were young before she found a passion for educating students as a special education paraprofessional for the Winneconne Community School District.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, fishing in the channel, gardening, playing the Spooky Spins, and spending time with her friends and family. Whether it was gathering for holidays, sharing laughter around the table, making memories, or simply enjoying time together, she treasured every moment.
Perhaps, the greatest joy in Diane’s life came from watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was their biggest fan, cheering them on from the sidelines with pride.
Diane is survived by her three children: Ty (Martina) Maki, Tori (Josh) Revoir, Tara (Brian) Pendergast; eight grandchildren, Avery, Easton, and Olivia Maki; Keegan, Parker, and Sawyer Revoir; Natalie and Austin Pendergast; her sisters, Karla Barnes and Teri (Ray) Lee; her brother, Jim Barnes; in-laws, Lloyd Swayer, Linda Maki; special friends, Randy and Patti Doverspike; Goddaughter and nieces, Alysha Fuss and Brittany Kaiver; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; mother and father; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond Sr. and Myrtha Maki; brother-in-law, Raymond Jim Junior Maki; and sister-in-law Jean Swayer.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. 4th St. Winneconne, where Diane was a long-time member. Visitation will continue Saturday, November 7 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church following visitation with Pastor Ben Berger officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Poygan.
