Obituary

Don Hansen passed away on March 19, 2026. He was born on October 11, 1934 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Harry & Genevieve (McCullen) Hansen. In 1949 Don moved with his family to the town of Winchester, Wisconsin where his parents had purchased the local Red Owl Grocery Store. Don worked in the family business until he joined the Army, spending much of his time in Germany as a member of a Tank Division. Upon his return Don entered Business school, and acquired his degree is Accounting. Don worked for the Miles Kimball Company for over 20 years. While there he was responsible for overseeing the construction of the Park Plaza Mall in downtown Oshkosh. Don also managed the Mall for many years. Don was given the opportunity to join David Hocker & Associates in Owensboro, Kentucky. They specialized in building shopping malls all over the United States.

Don’s favorite pastimes in retirement were spending time with his family and never missing a McCullen, Hansen or Army reunion. Don and his brother were diehard Packer fans, season ticket holders and owners, never missing a home game and always taking a couple of nieces and nephews along for the game.

Don’s greatest passion was his Philanthropy. Working with the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, he donated not only his time, but his considerable resources, making life easier for those less fortunate. All of this was done anonymously. Later in his life, thanks to Karlene Grabner of the OACF, Don established the Donald Hansen Fund which will continue to support all of his favorite charities for years to come.

Don was preceded in death by his parents. Sisters, Dorothy (Lawrence) Lambeseder, Lucille (Donald) Becker, Phyllis (Leonard) Zeinert, Brother, Harold (Anna Mae) Hansen, one niece & one nephew. Don is survived by many nieces and nephews and best friends Kevin and Amy Gossens.

Don’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Park View Health Care Center for their kind and compassionate care. A private Catholic mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
