Donald E. Strohecker Sr., age 90, formerly of Omro and Winneconne, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. He was born May 8, 1925, in New London. Don honorably served his country in the Army during World War II. On July 8, 1950, he married Beatrice Jones in Oshkosh. For many years he worked at Rockwell Standard (Axle) until his retirement. Don was always willing to help people; volunteering at the Omro Food Pantry and driving people to their appointments. He loved taking long rides in the car all over the state. Don also enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, and most of all doing stuff for and with his grandkids. Donald is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Mike) Hammes; grandchildren, Jennifer Kallas (Eric Gooday), Jillanne (Michael) Borst, Kyle (Melissa) Hammes, Ryan (Justyne) Eaton, Justin (Shawn) Eaton, Eric Eaton, Penny Schoenberg, Christopher Schoenberg, and Dustin Lewis; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Haase; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Henschel; his wife, Beatrice Strohecker; a daughter, Marsha Scolley; a son, Don Strohecker Jr.; two grandsons, Dennis Kallas Jr. and Jason Kallas; and a sister, Bernice Kelley. A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
