Hale
August 20, 1929 – March 29, 2026
Doraine L. Hale, age 96, passed away at Park View Health Center on March 29, 2026. She was born to the late Anton and Emma (Scharf) Opperman on August 20, 1929, at the family home in Winneconne. Doraine was educated through the Winneconne School System, graduating in 1947. She married Glenn Hale on December 3, 1951, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Doraine worked for many years at Farmers Bank of Omro (Winneconne Branch) and later the Winnebago County Bank after it was renamed. She was a faithful member of St Pauls Lutheran Church in Winneconne where she served on the counting committee for many years, retiring at age 80. She also was a member of the Ladies Guild at St Pauls. Doraine was a member of the Winneconne Historical Society where she enjoyed hosting at the Doll Cottage & the School House- meeting people from all over. She also enjoyed working at the Sovereign State Pie social each year. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 364. After retirement She and Glenn enjoyed many winters at their home in Stuart, FL.
Doraine is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Bob) Ehmke, Omro, WI; grandchildren, Shannon Ehmke- Oshkosh, Jacob (Chelsea) Ehmke- Sun Prairie, WI, Dan (Katie) Hale-Winneconne, Adam (Jewlz)-Hale-Phoenix, AZ, Jim Hale-Oshkosh; great-grandchildren, Camden, Leighton, Audyn, Ethan, Leah, Fabian, Madison, & Cole; daughters-in-law, Faye Hale and Kelley Hale- Winneconne; sisters-in-law, Carol Hale- Winneconne and Shirley Opperman-Manawa; as well as nieces & nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Doraine was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; sons, Steve “Frosty” Hale & Ron Hale; granddaughter, Nikki Schonscheck; brothers, Gordon (Olga) Opperman, Floyd (Betty) Opperman, Anton (Betty Jane) Opperman.
A private family service will be held at Winneconne Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the pastors at St Pauls for their visits to Mom, Pat, Jerry, & Phyllis, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 364 and St Pauls Ladies Guild for remembering Mom throughout her years at Park View with cards and gifts. It is easy to forget about someone when they must leave their home to move to a care facility. Your contact was very much appreciated. Thank you to the entire staff at Park View Health Center for the excellent care Mom and our family received.
