Douglas “Dougie” Kintopf, age 82 of Oshkosh, passed away at his residence on Friday, August 7, 2026. He was born in Oshkosh on May 11, 1944 to the late Carl and Violet (Anderson) Kintopf. Doug was united in marriage to Phyllis Heidel on February 2, 1963, at Grace Lutheran Church in Omro and had seven children.
Doug made a living as a heavy equipment operator, spending many of his working years at Michels Materials at FLB Quarry before he hung up his hard hat and embraced retirement. Doug was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Omro.
A vibrant personality, Dougie had a deep passion for billiards and a green thumb for gardening. He loved to stop by Service Oil, where his friendly smile and coffee-making skills became a staple of the local hangout. More than anything, Dougie was a constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren, faithfully cheering them on at every sporting event.
Doug is survived by his wife, Phyllis Kintopf; children, Stephanie Kintopf, Michael (Tina) Kintopf, Tracy Kintopf, David (Christine) Kintopf and Elizabeth (Ryan) Crooks; grandchildren, Sarah, Kevin (Halle), Jesse, Clayton, Jonah, Jakob, Grant, Reese, Addison, Mahoney, Puakela (Zach), Rika, Liam, Lucy; great-grandchildren, DJ, Margot, Damien and Camille; brother, Roger (Gloria) Kintopf; sister, Sally (Stephen) Stoffel; sister-in-law, Nancy Jo Kintopf-Crabb.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Kintopf; son, Peter Kintopf; brother, Robert Kintopf; father-and-mother-in-law, Pete and Louise Heidel; sisters-in-law, Mary (George) Reis and Paula (Richard) Rosenquist.
A memorial service for Douglas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave, Omro, WI 54963 officiated by Rev. Mark Wenzel. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Omro Cemetery.
