Earl G. Thull Winneconne, Wisconsin Earl G. Thull, age 85, of Winneconne, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010, with his family at his side. He was born in Waukau, Wisconsin on April 27, 1924, to Nick and Viola (Hill) Thull; the oldest of six children. Earl proudly served his country as a World War II veteran in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bouganville. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Bronze Star, and the American Theatre. On April 19, 1947, he married the former Alice Louise Krueger at St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne with Rev. Victor Kaudy as celebrant. Earl worked as an independent truck driver, and at the Winnebago County Farmco Cooperative. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and the American Legion Post 364 of Winneconne. Earl enjoyed traveling around the United States, wintering in Florida, boating, hunting, and fishing. You could always find Earl on his garden tractor blowing snow in the winter and mowing lawn in the summer. He loved it so much; he even blew the neighbors' driveways and mowed their lawns. Earl had a passion for spending time with his family and friends, and especially dearly loving his wife Alice to whom he was extremely devoted. In addition to his wife of 62 years, Earl is also survived by two children and their spouses; Sherry and Roger Rozek, of Winneconne; Greg and Marie Thull, of Winneconne; five grandchildren; Nate and Carrie Rozek, of Madison; Allison (Rozek) Postell, and her husband Joe, of Alexandria, Virginia; Jeremy Thull, Clint Thull, Kristine Thull, all of Winneconne; one great-grandchild; Carter Pongratz-Thull. He is further survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Vic Roeder, of Markesan; his brother and sisters-in-law Larry and Diane Thull, of Appleton; Leone Thull, of Berlin. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lorraine Bonnett; and his brothers, Jim and Nick Thull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr., Winneconne, with Fr. Doug LeCaptain and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Luncheon at Kaudy Hall to follow the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution will be established for the Disabled American Veterans, and the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Gremminger, Dr. Mohamad Khatib, Dr. Ghayyur Qureshi, and the ICU staff at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh, for their care and compassion during Earl's illness.
