Mae Sohrweide went to join her Lord and Savior and her husband, Wayne, on March 28, 2024, just six weeks shy of her 92nd birthday.  She was born Edna Mae Thrall on May 14, 1932, to John W. and Dorothy (Vohs) Thrall.  She had two brothers, Doug and Jack, who were 16 and 14 years older respectively.  Her mother died when Mae was only 10 years old and for a while, she became a regular companion of her dad who owned Wisconsin Canning Company in Winneconne, Wisconsin.  She spent summers riding from fields to viners, to cannery in her dad's old Dodge and sleeping in the back window when she got tired. When she was a little girl, once in a while he took her along to canning conventions in Chicago. She remembered seeing Tommy Harmon, Sr., play football there and going to Wrigley Field.  When she didn't go with him, he always brought her back a pretty dress purchased in a downtown Chicago store.

As a high school girl, she and her friends loved being on the river and were known to   have swum across the Wolf River in Winneconne more than once (usually accompanied by a rowboat just to make sure). Her love of music began early and she was an accomplished vocalist and instrumentalist competing in Solo and Ensemble and making regular trips to state competitions. Her dad was forward thinking and wanted her to go to college, but Mae knew what she wanted. Wayne Sohrweide. They married on October 24, 1950, the fall after Mae graduated from high school.  From then on, her life revolved around her family and her church—just the way she wanted it—playing and singling at her church on Sundays and for special occasions, and being "a good listener" to both family and friends.  She played and sang for many funerals, including that of her husband of 58 years.  All told, she accompanied at church for almost 60 years.  Her final Sunday to play was February 18, 2024, at the Allenville Baptist Church.

We can't forget her love of the Green Bay Packers. She never missed being in front of her TV, jersey on, ready for kickoff.  When Aaron Rogers left, she just knew Jordan Love would do a find job—and she was not disappointed.  She was so proud of him.

Mae was preceded in death by husband, parents, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her beloved rescue dog, Ellie; three children, June Pellowski (Pat Olofson), Jeff (Valori) Sohrweide, and Jill (Bob) Ronk; her grandchildren, Jenni (Bill) Hovell, Jerry Pellowski, Jessie Pellowski, Alex Sohrweide, Alyssa Sohrweide, Bob Ronk, Becki (Curt) Hietpas, Andy Ronk (Jordan Martin) and Makayla Ronk (Garrett Cooper); and numerous great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her two lifelong friends, Barbara Eckstein and Rosalie McCormick.

The family wishes to include a special thank you to Sally Cleveland who gave her time to be with Mae and keep her company in her final days.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 3 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church of Allenville 6629 Hilltop Rd. Oshkosh. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Dave Eisley officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
