Eugene A. Gitter, age 85, of Hortonville, died Wednesday, August 26, 2014. He was born October 28, 1928, in Hortonville to the late Frank and Agnes (Bahler) Gitter. Eugene served his country in the U.S. Army. On June 23, 1951, he married Helen Hodge in Shiocton. Eugene was a member of St. Michael's Church in DePere. Eugene is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Leroy) Niemuth, of Waupaca; Diane (Dave) Lathrop, of Appleton; Carol (Fred) Heineman, of Shiocton; one son, David (Bonnie) Gitter, of Readfield; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Gitter; and other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Eugene was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen on December 6, 2012; a great-granddaughter; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, August 30, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 1784 Chapelle Rue, DePere. A Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday at the church at 11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London.
