Gail Janet (Gavin) Miller, age 80, of Omro, WI, a devoted woman of faith and cherished matriarch passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Leaving a legacy of laughter, love, and strength.
Gail was born in Oshkosh, WI on December 18, 1945, to the late James and Dorothy (Shorey) Gavin. She attended Oshkosh High School and continued her education in health care throughout her life, working at Mercy Medical Center as a nurse’s aide for many years. She later worked as a home health aide helping patients cope both physically and spiritually at the end of their lives.
Gail married William “Bill” Miller on December 28, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, beginning a wonderful partnership that would span 62 years.
Gail enjoyed gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens, as well as her fruit orchard. She was a great cook and baker, while her many descendants enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Gail loved music, she played the cello and the violin as a young woman. She enjoyed art, drawing and watercolor painting were her favorite. Her art pieces have become a treasured item for family members. Gail was a pillar of St. Mary’s Church in Omro, serving many years as a catechist. Sharing her faith with others was one of her favorite things to do.
Gail is survived by her husband, William G. Miller; her children, William (Diane) Miller, Tammy (Rick) Wright, Todd (Tracey) Miller, Heidi (Bill) Kiley, Adam Miller and twins, Dominic (Sue) Miller, and Charlie (Kayla White) Miller. Along with her 10 grandchildren and soon to be 9 great grandchildren, all of whom she showered with prayers and love. From Gail: To all my grandchildren, “You are my favorites”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James J. Gavin and Dorothy E. (Shorey) Gavin; and her sister Joan (Gavin) Putzer.
A mass of Christian burial for Gail will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Located at 730 Madison Ave, in Omro, WI, beginning at 11:00am. The time of visitation will begin at 9:00am and continue until the start of the service. Interment will take place at Rushford Cemetery.
