Obituary

Gladys E. Maronn Oshkosh, Wisconsin Gladys E. Maronn, age 88, a resident of Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, September 4, 2009. She was born August 8, 1921 in the Town of Caledonia in Waupaca County to the late Herman and Ella (Niemuth) Meyer. Gladys was a graduate of Oshkosh High School. On August 15, 1942 she married Carlton W. Maronn at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Gladys had worked at the Oshkosh B'Gosh Overall Company, Bell's Restaurant, and for 9 years at Pleasant Acres in Oshkosh. She was a volunteer for hospice at Mercy Medical Center for 9 years, and for 25 years she was an election poll worker for the Town of Oshkosh. Gladys was a 15-year member of the Progressive Homemakers, and was an active member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne where she was involved in Ladies Aid. Gladys enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and card games. Gladys is the loving wife of Carlton W. Maronn; devoted mother of Marcia (Dennis) Strube, Bob (Lou) Maronn, Ron (Connie) Maronn, and Pat (Tom) Rosanske; loving grandmother of Kim (Scott), William (Karin), Mark (Ashlyn), Justin (Sarah), Faith, Matthew, Rebecca (Nathan), and Rachel; great-grandmother of Hannah, Abigail, Victoria, Kalea, Kyria, Kristine, and Kassandra; dear sister of Ray (Dolores) Meyer, Betty (Vern) Stang, Ginny Hannes, and Norman (Joyce) Meyer; and many other family and friends survive her. Along with her parents, Gladys was also preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Marvin, and Merton Meyer; and a sister, Fern Malloy. A Funeral Service for Gladys will held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne, with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Gladys' family wishes to extend special thanks to all of the staff of Evergreen Retirement Community for the care given to her.
