Glorianna Zimmerman, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
She was born on January 27, 1932, in the Town of Poygan, Wisconsin, to the late Henry and Frances (Langman) Gebauer, at home on the family farm.
On September 20, 1952, Glorianna married Donald Zimmerman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winneconne, Wisconsin. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children—Robert, Stephan, Carla, and Mark—sharing 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Glorianna graduated from Winneconne High School in 1949. She began her career working in the office at Wagner’s Cheese for one year before moving on to Deltox Rug Company in Oshkosh. While attending a dance with friends at the Eagles Club, she met Donald, who would later become her husband.
In 1955, after the birth of their first son, Glorianna became a devoted stay-at-home mother. In 1957, the family moved to Winneconne, where she worked one summer at the Winneconne Canning Factory. In 1959, they settled in their home in the Town of Utica, where Carla and Mark were born. In 1968, she briefly worked at Victory-Lite Candle Company and later spent 20 years as a cook at Ripon College.
Even after retiring, Glorianna continued sharing her love of cooking as the cook for the Neighborhood Center at First English Lutheran Church, where many senior citizens enjoyed both the programs she supported and the meals she lovingly prepared.
Glorianna's passions were cooking and gardening. Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, she could often be found tending her gardens. Neighbors would slow down, and passersby would stop along the roadside just to admire and photograph her beautiful flowers. Her family and guests were always treated to her outstanding home-cooked meals, especially her well-loved homemade pies.
She and Don enjoyed many years of camping at Bear Lake Campground and traveling together on bus tours-you never knew where they might go next. During cribbage tournament season, Glorianna could often be found competing with Bill, always hoping for that elusive 29-point hand. She also enjoyed playing sheepshead and cribbage with friends during the week and especially cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren playing UNO and Kings in the Corner.
Glorianna found joy in life's simple routines, including gardening, tending to her flower beds, raising chickens, and spending time with her beloved dog, Baby Girl, who was always by her side.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Ginger) Zimmerman; Stephan (Audrey) Zimmerman, Carla Zimmerman; and Mark (Kelly) Zimmerman.
Grandchildren: Matthew (Julie) Zimmerman and Miranda Zimmerman; Benjamin Zimmerman and Noel (Sam McLimans); six great-grandchildren—MacKenzie, Cody, Lillianne, Kendaleigha, Jordan, and Baby; and one great-great-grandchild, Theodore. She also survived by her special niece, Sherri Tirpe;
She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Gareth Sternitske; sister-in-law, JoNell Gebauer; and her special friend, Bill Zaske; as well of many nieces and nephews.
Glorianna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her brothers, Henry and William Gebauer; and her sister, Marion Sternitske.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the first responders of Utica Township, as well as the compassionate ICU staff and Dr. Schermer at Aurora Medical Center, for their exceptional care.
A funeral service will be held at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to assist family with funeral costs.
Glorianna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
