Guyland Eugene Van Asten passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, at home with his family at his side. He was born April 23, 1938. Guyland graduated from Winneconne High School with High Honors in Art. Guyland married his high school sweetheart Jackie (Thiex). They would have celebrated 59 married years on May 17, 2017. Guyland wore many hats in his life. He was most proud of his family. His biggest hat was Awesome Buck Adventures. For years he held the record for white-tail antlers. Not to be outdone by his talented art ability. He leaves behind his wife, Jacqueline (Thiex) Van Asten; and their four children, Dean and Lori, Tim and Diane, Jody and Karen, Kalyn and Brett. The four children gave him ten grandchildren, Tyler, Bree Bree, Johanna, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jacob, Kane, Claire, Taryn, and Tanner. The ten grandchildren gave him seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte (Mike) Dorow, Darlene (Jim) Kneifl; one brother, Ron (Pam) Van Asten; a foster son, Bruce Leitzke; and other relatives and friends. Preceding Guyland in death was his mother, Ella Van Asten; and a brother, Virgil Van Asten. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Thursday, December 29 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church of Allenville 6629 Hilltop Rd. Oshkosh. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor David Eisley officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
