Obituary

Harold D. Fahley, age 85, of Winneconne, died Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born September 19, 1929, on the home farm in the town of Vinland to the late Lawrence and Amy (Pratt) Fahley. From grades 1-8 Harold attended the Allenville School, while in high school he was a Badger Boys State representative, and in 1947 he graduated from Winneconne High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On February 20, 1960, Harold married Sharon Elmer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne. He worked at Miller Petersen in Winneconne as the auto service manager from 1953 until 1961, then owned and operated his own service station and garage in Oshkosh for 3 years, before going to work as a manager/mechanic for Wentzel Ford in Winneconne, which he did for many years. Harold was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne, and for 48 years he volunteered with the Winneconne-Poygan Fire Department, having at one time held the position of fire chief and was currently an honorary member. Surviving Harold Fahley are six children, Mark (Michelle) Fahley, of Topeka, Kansas; Maria Costello, of Oshkosh; Kenneth (Jennifer) Fahley, of Collins; Kathryn Fahley, of Oshkosh; Carol (Jim) Jacques, of Neenah; Linda Fahley (special friend, Brent Potratz), of Winneconne; eighteen grandchildren, Elizabeth (Charles) Redman, Sharon and Betty Costello, Christopher, Bradley, Courtney, and Ethan Fahley, Amanda, Kristin, Kayla, Emily, and Rebecca Fahley, Amy and Kimberly Decker, Adam, Loree, and Eric Jacques, and Brandon Fahley; eight great-grandchildren, Yasmine Decker, Carter Warnke, Jonathan and Hailey Redman, Joshua Obright, Melanie Coats, Wyatt and Ezra Fahley; two brothers, Roydon and Earl (Ione) Fahley; a sister-in-law, Veronica Fahley; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Along with his parents, Harold was also preceded in death by his wife Sharon on June 29, 2010; a daughter, Amy; one brother, Gordon Fahley; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Fahley. A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, November 1, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., at the church with Fr. Bill Hower, Sr. Pam Biehl, and Sharon Baker officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
