Obituary

James E. Jabb, age 63, of Winneconne WI died on July 14, 2009 after a long illness. Beloved husband of Susan Bayer-Jabb. Loving father of Kersten (Michael) Matera and grandfather of Ian. Also survived by cousins Robert (Donna) Dmitt and Sandy (Richard) Bingkowski. Preceded in death by his father, Harry Jabb and his mother, Loretta Guzinski Jabb. Also, Jim is survived by his in-laws: Helen Bayer, Liz (Frank) McKenzie, Paul Bayer, James (Kathy) Bayer, and Dave Bayer (Trish Arana). Uncle to Helen (Rick) Rubsam, Ken (Kim) McKenzie, Joe Bayer, Dan Bayer, Jon (Christine) Bayer, Amy Bayer, Chris (Trista) Rada. Great uncle of Lexie, Brittany, Colin, Annika, and Kenneth Thomas. Jim was married to the late Frieda Wambach, during which time they worked in Chicago, traveled through Europe, and started a family. Recently, Jim was adopted into the family of C.J. and Sandy Doxtater in a making of relatives (Hunka) ceremony. This was an extremely meaningful event is his life as he has been following Native American traditions. Jim was given the name of "Bear Comes Dancing." Close to Jim was childhood pal Jim (Judith) Lidges and friend Barry (Sandy) Perlman. Also dear to Jim was the Chiapetta family of St. Charles IL, who invited Jim into their lives many years ago. Many thanks to all the individuals who supported Jim. His co-workers in Waushara County provided an out-pouring of care and kindness, which meant so much to Jim. His Tai Chi companions offered their friendship, skills, and encouragement. Innumerable friends made up his group of hunting and fishing buddies. Jim also had many wonderful memories from his time working at St. Mary's Hill Hospital in Milwaukee and at Northview Hospital in Waukesha. The experiences and mentors at these facilities helped him on his course to become a social worker and therapist. Throughout the past two years, Dr. Gremminger and her staff provided Jim with outstanding care and support during his last course of cancer treatment. Jim received excellent care from the staff at Mercy Medical center during his various inpatient stays and outpatient procedures. During Jim's time of treatments and surgeries, Jim continued to have a strong will to live, fed by his strong purpose in life and love of people. His care and compassion for others, his ability to connect with people, and his zest for life made a mark on many people. In return, each person left a mark on Jim and became a part of his story. Please share in the Celebration of Jim's life which will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 1025 Tullar Rd.
