Plummer
March 19, 1925 – October 15, 2014
James J. Plummer, age 89, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. Jim was born March 19, 1925, in Oshkosh, the first son of the late Earl and Mary (Schuster) Plummer. He was a graduate of the one-room Skeleton Bridge School, which his brother Bob has fully restored, and Oshkosh High School, June class of 1943. In December of 1943, Jim enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Force, serving 2 ½ years during World War II. After discharge, Jim was employed at Courtney & Plummer Inc. in Neenah of which he was part owner. After 43 years of employment he retired in June of 1987. On June 14, 1947, he married Ann Maria Sexton at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. Jim and Ann enjoyed their home in the Town of Oshkosh their entire wonderful 51 years of marriage. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Being an avid boater he and family and friends spent many joyful hours on the Valley Queen Stern wheel houseboat plying local waters and was always proud of the many friends he made along those waterways. Each year for over 40 years, loving real country music, he made a trip to Nashville's Grand Ole Opry and Renfro Valley, Kentucky to enjoy the music played there. Over the years the people who put on the shows became wonderful friends. Jim is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ruth Plummer, of Howards Grove; three grandsons, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Russell Plummer; two brothers and two four sisters-in-law, William and Carol Plummer, Robert and Bonnie Plummer, Verla Plummer, and Fran Plummer, all of Winneconne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Mike and Jane Lichtenwald. Along with his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann, on November 19, 1998; two brothers, Charles and Tom; a nephew, Ned Plummer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a very special friend, Pearl. A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter Worship Site) 435 High Ave. Oshkosh. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Jim Jugenheimer officiating. Burial will follow in the Plummer Cemetery, Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
