James "Jim" Leo Wolf, age 79, of Winneconne, followed the angels home to Heaven on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. He was born on December 15, 1946, the son of the late Leo and June (Kaufman) Wolf. He was united in marriage to Marilyn (Helm) Mugerauer on April 16, 2005.
A dedicated patriot, Jim served honorably in the United States Army, joining the ranks of the 32nd Infantry Brigade, where he ultimately rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major during his 33 years of exemplary service. His unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers exemplified his character—a true soldier’s soldier who loved his country deeply.
During his military career, Jim devoted over 36 years of his life to the City of Oshkosh, retiring as the Superintendent of Water Distribution. His work ethic was remarkable and inspired those around him, especially his sons, who admired his dedication and tenacity.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim found great joy in the outdoors. Fishing and hunting were passions he cultivated over the years, along with countless cherished moments spent at his beloved cottage in Wallace, MI, where he nurtured family bonds and made lasting memories for over 60 years. An accomplished woodworker, he shared his talents with his sons during many pinewood derbies and home improvement projects, leaving a legacy of craftsmanship, patience, and love.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Wolf; sons, Thomas, Michael (Tammy), and Justin (Amy) Wolf, Renee (Bruce) Hoffman, Kay Luepke, Scott (Michelle) Mugerauer; grandchildren, Leo, Clayton, Everett, Ross, Leah, Hayley, Garrett, and Sierra; sister, Jean Blanchard; brother-in-law, Thomas (Kathy) Helm.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his infant son, Jonathon; sister, Sarah Wolf; brothers-in-law, Marvin Blanchard, Herbert (Eleanor) Helm.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S 4th St. Winneconne, WI 54986, officiated by Rev. Ben Berger, on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
