Obituary

Jean V. Krans, age 97, of Winneconne, passed away on January 2, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Clinton, Michigan to Edgar and Laura Stadler Randall on the family farm after the doctor arrived by horse and buggy. She graduated from Clinton High School. She met Marvin Krans who was a Michigan State Police(MSP) trooper assigned to the Clinton Post. On June 20, 1947 they were married.

Life as a MSP wife moved her to 7 different Michigan towns where she was actively involved in her children’s activities, church activities and jobs. She was employed making gliders for WWII, at physicians office, dentist offices, as a Credit union teller, church secretary, and Michigan Secretary of State office retiring after 20 years of service. She also found time to volunteer at local hospitals for 16 years. In 2004 she moved to Winneconne and became a member of Lord of the Lakes Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Busy Hands quilting group.

Music was a big part of her life. She played piano with High School Band, children choir director, and sang with Grand Traverse Sweet Adelines, and loved playing piano and singing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Amy(John) Penegor, Mark(Melissa) Krans, Lisa(Ray)Zegers, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents, and her brothers Norman Randall, Lloyd Randall and their wives.
