IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan G.
Farrell
October 27, 1929 – June 17, 2010
Joan G. Farrell Winneconne, Wisconsin Joan G. Farrell, age 80, of Winneconne, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at home. She was born October 27, 1929 to the late Erv and Marge (Stelow) Volkman. Mom's love for Dad began over sixty year ago. He fought for her and he won. Joan and Ron were married on October 15, 1949. Dad became her husband, best friend, soul mate, and confidant. They raised a family and became foster parents as well. Throughout the years they laughed and had fun along the way. Many times it was only Daddy that could provide the comfort and care Mom needed or wanted. Mom had us kids but Dad is the one for her! Sixty years in the making - A True Love Story. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Erv & Marge Volkman. Mom is survived by her loving husband, Ron; her children, Mike (Mary) Farrell, Patricia "Sis" (Loren) Yager, Maureen "Renie" (Gary) Streich, Kathy "Kate" Farrell (Graham Guenther), and Linda Anderson; ten grandchildren and spouses, Andy (Ashley) Farrell, Scott (Angie) Farrell, Kelly (Mark) Hawkins, Lance (Natalie) Yager, Kimberly (Ken) Courts, Adam (Jessica) Streich, Stacy (Travis) Blowers, Hannah Farrell, Chris (Marsha) Anderson, and Casey Anderson; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Volkman. Our family includes our sister's in Christ, Rosann "Rosie" Milius and Pastor Mara Rivera. Family was at the center of Mom's life. She also enjoyed sewing, counted-cross stitch, crocheting, quilting, artistic painting, stamping, scrap booking, and beading. Other than Mom's crafts she loved fishing, entertaining, and cooking. She hand wrote several cookbooks and in each one included an Irish Blessing: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. The sun shine warm upon your face, And the rains fall soft upon you fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 32 S. Third Ave., Winneconne, with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. A luncheon in the church fellowship hall will follow. Inurnment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. We wish to express our appreciation for the support and kindness of the Affinity Hospice Staff. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at the First Presbyterian Church in Winneconne.
