John "Huntz" Roger
Gonzales
March 1, 1951 – April 5, 2026
Mueller Funeral Home
11:00 am - 1:00 pm (Central time)
John “Huntz” Roger Gonzales made his grand and somewhat unexpected exit on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the youthful age of 75. In true Huntz fashion, he chose a dramatic holiday timing—because an ordinary Tuesday simply wouldn’t have suited him.
He was reunited just a few months later with the love of his life, Jaqueline (Ehley) Gonzales, who went ahead on December 28, 2025—presumably to get things organized on the other side. One can only imagine her now, hands on hips, saying, “Took you long enough.”
Born to John and Pearl (Adelmeyer) Gonzales, Huntz grew up among a lively crew of siblings, several of whom got a head start welcoming him upstairs: Jacqueline, Joseph, and Jeffrey Gonzales. No doubt there’s already a spirited family reunion underway.
He leaves behind a full and slightly louder world thanks to his surviving siblings: Mary Anne Gonzales, James (Carol) Gonzales, Linda (Eddie) Neill, Gregory (Michelle) Gonzales, Cheryl Kutz, and Gerrard (Jennifer) Gonzales—who will now have to argue amongst themselves without his expert commentary.
Huntz was a proud father to John (Kelly) Gonzales and Jesse (Dody) Gonzales, and an even prouder grandfather to Dierdre (Brandon) Stokoe and Brianna Gonzales. He achieved elite status as great-grandfather to Solomon Stokoe, with another Baby Stokoe on the way—timing he likely found just inconvenient enough to comment on.
He will be fondly remembered for his unwavering loyalty to the Packers and Brewers, his love of fishing and boating, and his near-religious devotion to a proper Friday fish fry. If there was a body of water nearby or a fryer heating up, Huntz wasn’t far behind. And if there was a slot machine in sight, well… let’s just say a single quarter never stood a chance.
Huntz had a gift for enjoying life’s simple pleasures: family, friends, a good laugh, and maybe just one more spin. He left behind countless stories—some true, some improved over time—and a legacy of showing up, speaking his mind, and never turning down a good time.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 East Main Street, Winneconne, Wisconsin 54986 with a reception to follow at the Gonzales home.
He will be dearly missed, loudly remembered, and frequently toasted—likely with a fish fry in hand. And as someone recently said, with perfect timing: “Hang on, Jackie… he’s on his way.”
