Obituary

John Robert Woods, age 67, Winneconne, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, January 8, 2018. John was born May 1, 1950 to Earl and Marie (Stoop) Woods and grew up on the family's dairy farm in Greenville. After graduating from Hortonville High School, John served in the US Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, Hammond-Schmit Post 55, Hortonville. He was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his professional years, driving for Graebel Van Lines, Kimberly-Clark Corp. and FedEx, before his retirement in 2012, and was proud to have been recognized for 4 million accident-free miles. John married Jodi (Koerner) Perkins on May 18, 1996, and the couple made their home in the town of Winneconne, where John was well-known as someone always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and family. He loved to be outdoors, and he loved his workshop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing and especially loved hosting his annual deer camp party on opening weekend each year. John is survived by his loving wife, Jodi; his sons, Andy (Kristen) Woods and Matt (Dana) Woods; stepson, Justin (Angela) Perkins; sisters, Mary (Phillip) Endter, Marge (Dr. Pat) Cousineau, and Bonnie (Marv) Dorschner; brothers, Steve (Faye) Woods, Mike (Theresa) Woods, and Patrick (Cheryl Schultz) Woods; grandchildren Alex, Nick, Ian, and Ella Woods; mother-in-law, Jackie Koerner; sisters-in-law, Tami (Sara Edwards) Koerner, and Nanci (Craig) Fink; brother-in-law, Michael Koerner; many nieces, nephews, loving neighbors, and special friends, including his best friend Bill Oostra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marie Woods; father-in-law, Richard Koerner; and a niece, Holly Dorschner. A visitation for family and friends and will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main Street, Winneconne. A moment of reflection will take place at Noon, followed by military honors. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Woodeye's Bar and Grill, 700 W. Main Street, Winneconne. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name can be directed to the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Attn: Voluntary Service 70-C-16, 5000 W.
