Joyce Ann (Doherty) Groff, 93, of Appleton, formerly Menasha, was called home to Heaven, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.
Joyce was born on January 16, 1930, in Marshfield, WI to Hugh and Elizabeth (Freese) Doherty. She married Gale Groff on November 3, 1951, in Marshfield, WI. Joyce was a nurse at Theda Clark in Neenah, WI for 40 years. Long-time member of St. Mary Church in Menasha for over 60 years. Joyce loved to spend her free time traveling, spending time with family, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and doing cross word puzzles. She had a love for popcorn and arguably was the best stove-top popcorn maker.
Joyce is survived by her seven sons, Dan (Chris) Groff of Green Bay, WI; Richard (Kathy) Groff of Bellefonte, PA; Gary (Sandy) Groff of Shawano, WI; Jim (Debbie) Groff of Winchester, WI; Chuck (Charlie) Groff of Village of Harrison, WI; John (Debbie) Groff of City of Menasha, WI; and Pat (Angela) Groff of Appleton, WI; her two daughters, Sue Kuhn of Winchester, WI; and Julie (Stuart) Sanford of Kingwood, TX; her 27 grandkids, 46 great-grandkids, and 1 great-great-grandkid; sister-in-law, Nadine Groff of Appleton, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gale Groff; sisters, Dolores (Eugene) Schlagenhaft and Ruth (Norman) Wagner; brother, Jim (Alice) Doherty; son-in-law, George Kuhn; and many other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at St. Mary Church, Winneconne, WI. Fr. Tom Long and Deacon Paul Vidmar officiating. Visitation will be at St. Mary Church on Tuesday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh, WI. Mueller Funeral Home in Winneconne, WI is assisting the family.
