Obituary

June E. Thompson, age 94, passed away at Park View Health Center on the morning of Wednesday, May 20, 2026. She was born to the late Nels and Julia (Thompson) Nelson on June 30, 1931, in Neenah. She eloped with Richard (Bud) Thompson on November 12, 1949, to Dubuque, Iowa. June was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester and was involved with the choir and ladies’ aid. June was a homemaker when her children were young and worked at the Red Owl Store in Winchester for many years. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her beautiful flowers. She also loved feeding and watching the birds. June and Bud enjoyed going to a good auction, collecting carnival glass and other antiques. She also made close to 50 sock monkeys and gave them out to family and friends! After Bud’s passing in 1994, June started a relationship with Louie Peterson, which ultimately led to her big formal wedding on May 1, 1999. They enjoyed taking many bus trips together and visiting old friends.

June is survived by her children, Barb (Joe) Schraven, David Thompson, Denny Thompson, Jeff (Deb) Thompson, Terry Thompson, John (Jackie) Thompson; 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a few great, great-grandchildren; sister Neita Holverson, sister-in-law Pat Thompson and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard and second husband Louie; son, Michael Thompson; daughter, Pauline Thompson, daughter-n-law Kim Thompson; grandsons, Marshall Thompson & Jason Thompson; 2 brothers, Wally and Earl Nelson; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A funeral service for June will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester (8396 Steeple Hill Dr) at 11AM. A time of visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of service. Burial will take place immediately following in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Light lunch to follow in the church.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh for taking such good care of our mom! She truly enjoyed her time spent at Park View, participating in the garden center, singing in the choir, playing bingo, having her hair done and spending time outside on the patio with her good friend Tom!
