IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Jean
Nagler
June 20, 1941 – January 18, 2012
Karen Jean Nagler Karen Jean Nagler, age 70, of Butte des Morts went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 18, 2012. Karen truly lived a good life and was comfortable with her situation and very secure in her faith right up until the time of her passing. In recent years she battled diabetes and many other health related illnesses very courageously and never let it get her down. She handled new diagnoses and setbacks as they came with grace and ne'er a thought about "why me." She will be remembered, by all who knew her, as a very giving person who gave freely of her time, talents, or maybe just a good listening ear. Many are the examples of how she sacrificed her own interests and went without so that someone else could have something that made them feel a little bit better or made their life possibly a bit easier. Karen was born June 20, 1941, in Oshkosh to William Sr. and Louise Kolaske. On February 11, 1961, she married Robert S. Nagler at Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They celebrated 50 years of marriage surrounded by the love of their family this past summer. Karen worked at Bell Machine, The Winnebago County DHIA, and more recently as a teller at Bank One. In her spare time she enjoyed family get togethers, cooking and baking, keeping in touch with her mother, brother and sisters on the phone and riding motorcycle with her husband Bob. Even after her health declined her major goal was to get back on that motorcycle..... and she did! She was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, The Retreads Motorcycle Club, and the Butte des Morts Ladies Guild. Karen was a lifleong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh having been baptized, confirmed, and married there. Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert S. Nagler, of Butte des Morts; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Tina Nagler, of Winneconne; Todd and Bonnie Nagler, of Butte des Morts; Brian and Steffanie Nagler, of Winneconne; nine grandchildren, Joe, Jessica (Travis) Novotny, Jeremy (Brittany) Nagler, Brandon, Kristi, Corrie, Samantha, Reagan, and Reese Nagler. two great-grandchildren; Mickayla and Ty Nagler. Grandma Karen also had found out at Christmas that there would be another addition of a great-grandchild in an announcement by Jessica and Travis. She was very happy about this! Karen is also survived by her loving mother Louise Kolaske with whom she spoke to every morning to check in; two wonderful sisters and their husbands, Lola (Kay) and Donald Connors, of Oshkosh; and Cherie and David Smoody, of Oshkosh; one loving brother and his wife, William Jr. and Carrie Kolaske, of Bonduel; and many nieces and nephews who were all very very important to Aunt Karen. Family was the focus of Karen's life and she so enjoyed spending time with everyone whenever she could ge the chance. It didn't matter for how long... it was just the chance to catch up Karen resided at Care Partners Assisted Living these past 6 years and the staff there showed much friendliness, care and compassion in how they carried out their duties. They provided Karen a warm living environment and our family a comfortable open place to visit. For that we are truly grateful! A time for gathering and remembering will be held at the Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne on Sunday January 22 from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N. Sawyer Street Oshkosh with Pastor Jeffrey Knoll officiating.
