Kenneth J. Immel, 91, of Zittau, died Thursday, April 3, 2025. He was born on September 13, 1933, in Fond du Lac to the late Irvin and Grace (McCarty) Immel. Ken was a 1952 graduate of Winneconne High School. After graduation he joined the Army serving with the Airborne Unit 187 in Korea. After his time in the service Ken built his home and started a family near Zittau. For 34 years he was employed with Miller Electric retiring in 1994. In December of 1970 Ken married Marilyn Hoehne and the family continued to grow. Ken and Marilyn enjoyed traveling annually to Branson, Missouri and also enjoying trips to Yellowstone and many other western locations. Ken's yard and shop were his sanctuary, this is where he spent much of his retirement time creating his own yard décor and "inventing new gadgets". His happy place was anytime he could get on his garden tractor.
Ken loved his family dearly and is survived by: his wife, Marilyn Immel; children, Laurie Schuh (Dave Heinrich) Alan (Shannon) Immel, Jimmy Immel, Amy Weigand (Phil Koepke); son-in-law, Jim Angell; daughter-in-law, Nancy Immel; stepson, Jeff Hoehne; grandchildren, Kasi (Ryan) Wautlet, Daniel (Maddy) Angell, Brianna (Jerred) Friday, Luke Immel, Cody Miller, Liz (fiance, Cody Ballard) Immel, Melissa (Chad) Gruenwald; great-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece; and many friends.
Along with his parents, Ken was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Angell; a son, Paul Immel; three grandchildren, Nicky and Kellie Plummer, Andrew Immel; and a brother and sister-in-law, Irv and Joan Immel.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Military honors will follow. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester.
