Obituary

Leon "Butch" Quigley passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of 89. Butch, who was born on July 29, 1935, in Winneconne to Helen (Crowley) and Leon Quigley, was a bright spirit with a love for life. He graduated from Winneconne High School, where he shone as an exceptional athlete. After high school, Butch proudly served in the Coast Guard for four years.

Butch had a multitude of talents and passions! He owned and operated Quigley Construction, and if you drive through Winneconne, you'll see evidence of his handiwork everywhere. In his retirement, he took up beekeeping, became an excellent gardener, and enjoyed woodworking, crafting beautiful furniture for his family and friends. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, especially those beloved annual trips to the deer camp and fishing in Minnesota with friends. But above all, Butch adored being out on the water, enjoying the laughter and camaraderie while captaining his pontoon boat on Lake Poygan. True to his Irish roots, he was always ready with a hearty laugh and loved sharing a pint or two with his buddies. His workshop was a welcoming place filled with warmth, laughter, and friendship.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Bradley) Quigley; his daughter, Jane (Brian) Shea; sisters Ruth Quigley Mills and Margaret (George) Gordus of California; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Along with his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen Quigley, Jo Lenz, Irene Chittim, and his brother, Ed Quigley.
