Margaret Dora Kohl, age 89, passed away on January 22, 2026, after a life centered on faith and community.
Margaret grew up in Marshfield, Wisconsin, where she attended Marshfield Senior High School. She made a lasting impression as Homecoming Queen during her senior year, a title she cherished. It was also there that she met her high school sweetheart, Russell Kohl, and the two were married on December 29, 1956.
Margaret worked for Kimberly-Clark Corporation for 13 years before retiring in 1993. After retirement, she and Russell enjoyed traveling and spending time at their Northwoods home on Post Lake before settling in Winneconne. She especially enjoyed the lake and tending to her flower pots, which always brightened her home. Time with family and friends was important to her, and Friday night fish fries were a favorite tradition. Margaret was also active at Lord of the Lakes Church in Winneconne, participating in the Busy Hands Quilting Group, choir, and Bible study, sharing her time and talents with the community she loved.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Lori (Jeff) Miller; her beloved grandchildren, Brandon (Amy) Miller and Kamilla (Joe) Mueller; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Luna and Tristan. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne Wenzel, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Kohl; her parents, Thelma and John Wenzel; her sisters, Lila Heckel and Marian Adams; and her brothers, Richard, James, and Dale Wenzel.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Busy Hands Quilting Group at Lord of the Lakes Church in Winneconne, honoring Margaret’s passion for community and service.
Funeral services will be held on March 17, 2026, at Lord of the Lakes Church, 6090 Harbour S. Dr. Winneconne, with a time to share memories beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff and caregivers at The Heritage and Cherry Meadows Hospice for their compassion and care.
