IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marguerite "Marge"
Selig
May 10, 1932 – December 12, 2021
Marguerite "Marge" Selig, age 89, of Winneconne, died Sunday, December 12, 2021, at home with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter by her side. She passed peacefully, fully knowing it was time to join the many family members that had preceded her and her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born May 10, 1932, in Appleton Wisconsin to Joseph Schiltz and Hildred (Brainard) Schiltz. Marge married Larry Selig on December 1, 1951. She lived, worked, and raised their three children in Appleton, WI. She had several jobs over the years including being both a pharmacy technician and volunteer at Appleton Medical Center.
After retiring, Marge and Larry built their dream home by Lake Poygan near Winneconne. They enjoyed traveling across much of the U.S. with their favorite spots being Yellowstone National Park and Walt Disney World. She was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne and volunteered many hours at the church and with the Winneconne Women's Civic League.
Marge was an avid wildlife watcher at her home by the lake. She had multiple bird feeders that would be visited by hundreds of birds daily along with squirrels, deer, and racoons. She could quickly identify many of the local species of birds and would spend hours simply watching them. One of her favorites was the cardinals with their bright red plumage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Selig; sister, Billie Nickles; and daughter, Lynn Murray.
Marge is survived by her children, Cyn Selig, of Portland, Oregon; and Cal Selig with his wife Stephanie, of Fort Collins, Colorado; her grandchildren, Kristi, Brian and his fiancé Brent, Amelia, and Conrad; and her great-granddaughter, Bella. She had two wonderful feline companions whom she loved dearly and preceded her in death, Mitzi and Sami.
Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 at the funeral home led by Deacon Paul Vidmar. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 5 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 at the church with Fr. Tom Long and Deacon Paul Vidmar officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
