Melvin Gust, age 67, of Winneconne, died Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born October 24, 1949, in Milwaukee to the late Robert and Marie (Daun) Gust. On June 24, 1983, Melvin married Joyce (Stoelzel) Fitzner. With his best friend of 60 years and business partner Pat Crawley, Melvin owned ASA Freight Systems Inc., where he served as the vice-president for many years. He was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan. Melvin is survived by his wife, Joyce Gust; step-son, Mark W. Fitzner; one brother, one sister and their families, Ronald Gust and his son Gregory; Mary (Jim) Smith, and their daughters, Lisa and Jackie; close friends, Pat Crawley, Tommy Bell, Michael Wantuch, Mike Body, Alan Knuth, Ken Bressers, Jim Hardwick, Tim Roberts; and his little girl dog, Tilly. Along with his parents, Melvin was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Marlene Gust. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery.
