Obituary

Merlynn C. Lovell departed this life, joining his Lord and Savior, and his beloved wife Dorothy, in Heaven on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Merlynn was born on April 9, 1942, the son of the late Carl and Leora (Breitrich) Lovell.

Merlynn and his beloved wife of 72 years, Dorothy Breitrich, were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Omro on September 26, 1953.

Merlynn was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, who joined her Lord and Savior in Heavenly bliss exactly seven weeks earlier; by his brother Darwin Lovell and his wife Eleanor; by his sister-in-law Grace Vowels and her husband Joseph; by his brother-in-law Charles Retzlaff and his wife Phyllis; his brother-in-law Lyle Retzlaff and his wife Margaret; his brother-in-law Orin Retzlaff and his wife Marian; and his brother-in-law Claire Retzlaff and his wife Ruth.

Merlynn is survived by his son, Dean (Bonnie) Lovell; his daughter, Maxine (Daniel) Neumann; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Merlynn will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave, Omro, WI 54963 officiated by Rev. Mark Wenzel. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A private interment will be held at Omro Junction & Union Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to be given to the organ fund at Grace Lutheran Church in Omro, where Merlynn and Dorothy were active members throughout their entire married life. Mueller Funeral Home in Winneconne is assisting the family with arrangements. If you wish, please submit online condolences and memorials at muellerfh.net.

A special thank you to the staff at Webster Manor in Omro, where Merlynn and Dorothy resided during the last several years, and to St. Croix Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Merlynn.
