Paul "Bud" Auer Paul "Bud" Auer, age 70, of Winneconne, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, with his family by his side, after a 3-year battle with cancer. He was born December 7, 1938 in San Diego, California to the late Paul and Mary (Wells) Auer. Bud was a graduate of the University of Missouri where he played football. For 35 years he worked for American Can until retirement. Bud was very involved in the Wisconsin All Terrain Vehicle Association (WATVA) working as a trail ambassador and a safety instructor. He was an active member of Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. In his younger years Bud was a bull rider, he loved flying as an amateur pilot, and he truly enjoyed the outdoors, bicycling and photography. Bud is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Hallie and Terry Schmidt, of Winneconne; one granddaughter, Holly Schmidt and her fiancé Derek Smet, of Neshkoro; a cousin, David (Alice) Wells, of Arizona; and many close friends and neighbors. A Funeral Service for Bud will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 6090 Harbour South, Winneconne, with Pastor Phil Bogen officiating. Burial will be in the Winneconne Cemetery. A Visitation will be on Thursday, July 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, and will continue on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00.
