Peter J. Hennes, 78, of Omro, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Born on October 1, 1947, Pete lived a life defined by service, dedication, and deep love for his family and community.

Pete grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he attended school and developed the strong values and work ethic that guided him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying that sense of duty with him always.

Following his military service, Pete worked for the State of Wisconsin as a power plant engineer, earning respect for his knowledge, reliability, and commitment. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), reflecting his continued dedication to fellow veterans.

Pete served as an alderman for the City of Omro until his passing, where he worked tirelessly to support and improve his community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Hennes; his children, Michael and Johanna; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pete will be remembered for his steady presence, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family, fellow veterans, and community.

A visitation and luncheon will be on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 364, 536 W. Main St. Winneconne. Military honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Wisconsin State Veterans Cemetery in King at a later date.
