Raymond E. Remmel Raymond E. Remmel went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at his home with loved ones at his side. Ray was born to Raymond N. and Gertrude (Stevens) Remmel on July 11, 1928 at rural Omro, Wisconsin. He graduated from Winneconne High School in 1946 and married Luella Haase on March 5, 1949. They were blessed with three daughters. From high school years until 1952 he assisted his Dad at the family farm in Poygan. In 1952 he started working for the Wisconsin Michigan Power Co. in Appleton (later Wisconsin Electric) until retirement in 1984. Ray is survived by his wife, Luella; daughters, Patty (William) Martin, Michele (Scott) Pakenham, and Lori (Steven) Reich; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Durkin, Nicole (Thomas) Phillips, Matthew (Jennifer) Martin, Andrew and Katherine Pakenham, Annaka and Riley Reich; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie (Jerry) Jankowski; brothers, Donald (Doris) Remmel, and Gaylord (Ina Mae) Remmel; sisters-in-law Donna Albright and Evelyn Haase; and many nieces, nephews, and long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son at birth; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Audrey Remmel; brothers-in-law, Merlin Haase and Melvin Albright. Ray enjoyed reading, loved woodworking, and along with Luella enjoyed taking many trips, hosting many family gatherings at their lake home prior to moving to Evergreen Retirement Community, Oshkosh, in 2006 where they were involved in various activities and made many friends. A time of gathering and remembering will be held at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd., Neenah, on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:30 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Borth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Bible Church, the Benevolent Fund at Evergreen Retirement Community, Oshkosh, and Heartland Hospice.
