Richard “Dicky” D. Mulvey, age 86, of Omro, WI, joined his dancing partner in heaven on July 16, 2026. Richard was born on July 10, 1940, in Oshkosh, to the late Lloyd and Mabel (nee Thiede) Mulvey. He was later placed in foster care, and the late J. Robert “Bob” and Viola (nee Radde) O’Reilly brought him, and six of his other siblings, into their loving family. It was at the O’Reilly Farm in Poygan that he learned that true family isn’t always determined by blood. He graduated from Omro High School in 1959. Richard was drafted into the Army in 1963, where he served for two years. He married “his lady”, Joyce Pollex, on June 30, 1962, at Auroraville Lutheran Church. After his military service, he and Joyce owned a restaurant, worked in retail at Osco Drug in Oshkosh, owned a laundromat, and finally was employed by the School District of Omro as the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds until his retirement. Richard was a notorious prankster and shared many jokes and laughs with his family and friends. He was known for speaking “Portuguese” on occasion, usually after a couple beers; a bilingual trait which his grandchildren especially got the biggest kick out of! And for his hidden quarter trick. He loved to country dance with Joyce, and together with the “Fukawee Tribe”, they traveled and danced all over the state, and even to a national competition!

Dicky’s circle of family and lifelong friends grew even larger when he became a proud founding member of the Sawyer Swampers Deer Hunting Club which he helped to establish in 1966. He was passionate about hunting and fishing. Above all, he loved his family more than words can convey. He enjoyed pub crawls, card and dice games. He especially loved going to Leon’s in Oshkosh for Joos Burgers. He loved biscuits and gravy at Jackie’s in Winneconne; and dollar beers on Saturday afternoons at Ron’s in Waukau. His laughter, stories, and larger-than-life personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his sons, Jamison (Carrie) Mulvey and Chad Mulvey; grandchildren, Jamison Jr., Abigail, and Victoria Mulvey; sister, Patricia Bates (née Mulvey); sisters-in-law, Carol Mulvey (wife of the late Thomas), Arlouene Mulvey (wife of the late James), Margret “Peg” Mulder (née Pollex), Gloria Frees (née Pollex); brothers-in-law, Edward (Judy) Pollex, and Dale Pollex; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his foster parents, J. Robert & Viola O’Reilly; “his lady” and dancing partner, Joyce Mulvey; brothers, Thomas Mulvey, James Mulvey, Robert Mulvey, and Michael P. O’Reilly; sisters, Shirley Kallas (wife of the late Harry), Janet Cleland (wife of the late Irv), and Jacqueline Mulvey; brothers-in-law, Robert Pollex, Harry Kallas, Gerald “Judd” Frees, and Irv Cleland; sister-in-law, Kay Pollex; and Lloyd & Mabel Mulvey.

Visitation with military honors for Dicky will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, at Mueller Funeral Home, East Main Street, Winneconne. Inurnment will take place at St. Thomas Cemetery in Poygan, WI.
