Obituary

Robert L. Werner Oshkosh, WI Robert L. Werner, age 84, of Oshkosh, formerly of Green Bay, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Bob was born in Detroit, MI on July 13, 1926, to Albert O. and Hortense (Montana) Werner and later became the adored big brother of Joan Werner Bradley and Lois Werner Kluver. A year after early graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became a submarine sailor. His pride was evident when he met with other WWII vets at their United States Submarine Vets Inc. meetings in Manitowoc. While at Wayne State University, Bob earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and began their almost 63 year love story when he met and fell in love with his "girl", Marilyn Minshall. They were married April 18, 1949, and became the third Montana generation to have four daughters and a son, the youngest, named Robert, Jr. Bob started and ended his working life in banking, first as a teller, and then as a much beloved employee of 15 years at the M&I Bank in Green Bay until his departure at the age of 82. During most of his life, he used his business skills as comptroller at DuComb Co. in Detroit and The American Baptist Assembly in Green Lake and as a self-employed MetLife agent in Iron Mt., MI and Green Bay. Bob fondly recalled his time as leader of the youth group at First Baptist Church of Birmingham, MI and his involvement with Webelos and Indian Guides. When he was able, he attended the many events and performances in which his grandchildren participated. Bob was a Badger football season ticket holder and a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers, but he loved being with his family most and especially enjoyed just "listening to them talk". Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his beloved wife, Marilyn; his sister, Joan Werner Bradley, Ferndale, MI; his children, Karen Werner, Chicago; MaryEllen "Marn" (Tom) Gibson, Oshkosh, and their children, Kelly (Dave) Miller, Heather Pamenter, Lissa (Brian) Dreyfus, and Aaron (Julie) Pamenter; Alison Bell, West Milwaukee, and her daughters, Sara (Andrew Tibbetts) Bell, Keely (Nathan) Stotlar; Paula Fromm, Niagara, WI, and her children, Megan, Eric, and Katie Sauld, and Rachael and Zoe Fromm; Bob (Monica) Werner, Jr., Carmel, IN, and their children, Madeline, Patrick and Claire; seven great-grandchildren, many dear friends, his church family from Pilgrim Congregational Church, Green Bay, and his many new friends in Oshkosh. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 4 p.m. at Winneconne Christian Fellowship, 102 S. Third St., Winneconne, with Pastor Dan Gibson officiating. Cremation will follow. A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the service a luncheon will be served at the American Legion 536 W. Main St, Winneconne. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date at Pilgrim Congregational Church, Green Bay, with Pastor Scott Naevestad officiating. Mueller Funeral Home 904 E.
