Obituary

Rodney Steven Donner, age 52, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by loved ones and loyal canine companion, Lilly, on Friday September 23, 2016, after battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianna (Hayman) Donner; children, Samuel Donner and Grace Donner; mother, Lola "Kay" Connors; sisters, Quinn (Robert) Hurt and Brenda (James) Martin; nephew, James Jr. (Kelsey) Martin; niece, Chelsie (Joe Stone) Martin; great-nephew, Zen Stone; along with many other beloved family members and friends. Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Steven Donner; and stepfather, Donald Connors. He was born June 29, 1964, in Oshkosh and attended Winneconne High School. Rodney married the love of his life on October 14, 1989. Rodney enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and motor sports. He was a very good cook and an avid Jeff Gordon fan, and never missed a NASCAR race on Sundays, unless a Packer game was on. Rodney completed West Coast Training in Oregon in 1991 as a heavy equipment operator. Rodney worked for many years in construction with C.R. Meyer, as well as other companies. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139. When Multiple Sclerosis prevented him from continuing his career as an operator, Rodney started a catering business, Rod's Catering. Rodney very much enjoyed his catering business until he could no longer physically work due to his illness. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, and was very proud of the accomplishments and caring nature of his children. A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church 6090 Harbour South (corner of Hwy 116 and Harbour South) Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Kevin Heffernan officiating. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting donations for a memorial charity fund to be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The family would like to thank the staff of TLC Homes in Oshkosh and Aurora Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Rodney and his family during his final journey. If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.
