Sharon K. Achterberg, age 67, of Fisk, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. She was born November 11, 1946, in Oshkosh to George and Joan (Pollard) Pedersen. Sharon attended Oshkosh West High School, and on February 26, 1966, she married John Achterberg at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Winneconne. Along with being a homemaker Sharon had worked at the United Co-op in Pickett, as a hostess at the Fin n Feather in Winneconne, in the deli/bakery at Wayne's Piggly Wiggly in Winneconne, and was self-employed at various jobs throughout her life. She was a member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Ring, where she served on Session, was a member of its Ladies Guild, and helped with decorating the church at Christmas, Easter, spring, and fall. Sharon enjoyed crafts, horses, and decorating. Sharon was a loving, caring, fun individual who is survived and will be missed by: her husband of 47 years, John Achterberg, of Fisk; three daughters, Lisa Miller (significant other, Patrick Coughlin), of Poygan; Kerri (Duane) Dretske, of Oshkosh; Julie (Jim) Basler, of Fisk; her grandchildren, Amber Chitel (significant other, Alex Pope), of Florida; Ryan Achterberg, of Appleton; Brooke Basler, of Oshkosh; Brett Basler, of Oshkosh; Breanna Basler, of Fisk; a great-grandson, Brayden Pope, of Florida; one sister, Lynn (John) Rogers, of Winneconne; her step-father, Guido Stein, of Oshkosh; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding Sharon in death were her father, George Pedersen; her mother, Joan Stein; and a brother-in-law, Ron Achterberg. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church-Ring, 479 Clairville Rd. Pickett. Pastor JoAnn Schoblaski will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the service. A celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, February 1 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Fin n Feather, Winneconne. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Sharon's family extends a special thanks to the Aurora Medical Center nursing staff, especially Lois; and the Aurora VNA staff, especially Carolyn, Tammy, and Bev for all of the care given to her; and thank you to all of her family and friends who helped in her care, and with meals and calls.
