IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila Mae
Rust
July 15, 1949 – July 14, 2018
Sheila Mae Rust passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Winneconne, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, a day prior to her 69th birthday. Sheila was born to Patricia and Philip Hey in South Milwaukee July 15, 1949. The oldest of 8 children, she was a caretaker from a young age. After graduating high school in South Milwaukee, her determination to become a teacher led her to UW-Oshkosh where she met the love of her life, Jay "Tom" Rust. They were married soon after college and Sheila thrived in her teaching. Tom and Sheila had two children, Amy and Jay. As great of a teacher as she was, it was nothing compared to the mother she became. There was never a day that you didn't feel love and genuine caring from our mother and grandmother. The couple spent much of their life in the Rosendale area. Sheila taught then became an assistant principal, then head principal at Ripon Middle School, before retiring in 2005. They had moved to Winneconne in 2003 and had many great boat rides together and with family. Sheila enjoyed taking care of loved ones, "fussed" over things to make everyone's birthday, special events, and holidays truly special. She was a wonderful cook and was known to "just have a taste" for a variety of foods. Her husband, kids, and grandkids were her world. She was so very loved by them, and she made sure to give a lot of hugs, kisses, and smarties to remind them how much she cared. She will be remembered and deeply missed by her kids, Amy (Tony) Wachewicz, Jay (Jodi) Rust; grandkids, Avery, Mia, and Declan, whom referred to her as their "Grandma on the river"; sisters, Lindy Scherer, Jeanie (Lee) Tschanz, Shelley (Don) Forecki, Mary (Bill) Rohner; brothers, Gary (Luann) Hey, Brian (Janice) Hey, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynn and Skip Woodruff; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty; brother-in-law, Ken; and her husband this past September. There will be a celebration of her life at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne Friday July 20 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. There will be a short service at 7:00 p.m. led by Pastor Dave Barber. All are welcome to attend, contribute memories, and share stories of a truly wonderful woman. She will be so missed. If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.
