IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sylvia Mae
Laedtke
April 7, 1922 – March 22, 2012
Sylvia Mae Laedtke God called home Sylvia Mae Laedtke early Thursday morning, March 22, 2012, because Les couldn't wait any longer to be reunited with his "Tweety" and the Kraus sisters needed their favorite alto for their celestial choir. Sylvia M. Laedtke, age 89, of Madison, formerly of Larsen, was born April 7, 1922 in Oshkosh, WI. She was the fourth child of Adolf and Edna (Springen) Kraus. Sylvia was a 1940 graduate of Oshkosh High School. She went on to cosmetology school in Appleton and worked for several years at Martha Manning's Beauty Shop in Oshkosh. On November 7, 1947, Sylvia married Lester C. Laedtke at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. For thirty years Sylvia made many women feel beautiful in the Larsen-Winchester area as the owner and operator of Sylvia's Style Studio. Sylvia had a life long relationship with the Lord. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at First English Lutheran Church; was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester for over 40 years and became a member of Midvale Community Lutheran Church when she and Lester moved to Madison in 2007. Sylvia assisted her husband Les with his Lions Club duties and then took on her own role as a member of the Larsen-Winchester Lioness Club. She was Lioness President and Lioness Associate Chairman for the 27B 1 Cabinet. Sylvia was the loving and devoted "woman behind the man" for 64 years. She was Lester's co-pilot, helper, best friend and simply, the love of his life. Sylvia was a continual learner, she would take classes to perfect her already exquisite skills as a seamstress and take cooking classes for fun. She had an uncanny ability to add a pinch of this and a bit of that to recipes with amazing results. Sylvia had a bit of the wanderlust and needed no encouragement to take trips with Les to places throughout the United States and Europe, especially if it meant going to visit their children. Sylvia loved golfing and was a member of the Winchester Hills Golf League for many, many years as well as bowling on both women's and couples bowling leagues. When she was younger, Sylvia shared her love of sewing with others as a 4-H leader. Sylvia was the loving and devoted mother to: Sandra Laedtke, Pat Schultz, Greg (Jane) Laedtke, and Mary (Mike Brennecke) Laedtke; Adoring grandmother to grandchildren Jason (Meagan) Schultz; Megan and Mike Schultz; Amanda (Mike) Blank and Aaron Laedtke; and Mikayla and Matt Brennecke; and two great- grandchildren: Braedan Blank, and Silas Schultz; and sweet older sister to brother Lyle (Marilyn) Kraus. Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband Les, parents; brother Glen Kraus, sisters Elaine (Rich) Egger, Ione (Ted) Brayton, and Merle (George) Kontos. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 31, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne with Pastor Kevin Heffernan officiating. Inurnment will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester. A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to the Larsen-Winchester Lioness Club, the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin, Agrace HospiceCare, and Attic Angel Place. Sylvia's family wishes to thank the staff at Attic Angel Place for loving and caring Mom and adopting her as their own mom or grandma; Agrace HospiceCare for being there during the critical and scary times and to Dr. David Watts and staff of the UW Geriatric Clinic (especially Tammy) for being there when we needed you. "To My Children and Grandchildren: Be not sorrowful that I am gone and my earthly life is done. Be not sad I passed away. For in you, my children, I live each day. There is a little of me in all of you. In each new one I live anew. So you see I'll never be really gone. As long as there are children to carry on. I have had my share of love, sorrow and strife. I have lived a full and fruitful life. So do not mourn and do not weep, for I am now in heaven, one of the Lord's own forever to keep." Author unknown. Mueller Funeral Home 904 E.
