Vicky L. Bernarde, 64, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 14, 1962, in Sparta, Wisconsin, to the late Robert and Helen (Van Kirk) Taylor. On August 8, 1981, she married Mark Bernarde in Sparta, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion.

Vicky dedicated 15 years of her career as a custodian at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. Outside of work, she found joy in creativity. She was an avid crafter who especially loved painting and crocheting, and she had a remarkable gift for sewing. Her quilts were truly one of a kind and will be cherished by those who received them.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mark; her children, David (Jen) Bernarde, Terry Bernarde, and Wendy (Aaron) Wicke; as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Edith Taylor, Donna Kadow, Arlene (Jim) Niedfeldt, Dean (Kathy) Taylor, and James Taylor.

In addition to her parents, Vicky was preceded in death by her siblings George Taylor, Lois (Steve) North, Robert (Judy) Van Kirk, and Debra (Tim) Sheire.

A funeral service will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main Street, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Mattoon, Wisconsin.
