IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Carpenter
August 29, 1950 – March 27, 2026
William “Bill” Carpenter passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and kindness that will never be forgotten.
Born August 29, 1950, to the late Roy and Edith (Lee) Carpenter. He graduated from Omro High School in 1968. Bill built a life rooted in family and farming. Bill married the love of his life, Denise “Dee Dee” Nelson, on June 12, 1971, and together they raised five children while running the family farm for over 50 years.
Bill was known for his strong work ethic and deep love of farming, continuing to work part-time on Larry Albright’s farm after retirement simply because he loved it. Over the years, he also worked for Radtke Construction on the barge crew, Omro Lumber Yard, and other jobs, always willing to put in an honest day’s work.
He was a dedicated 4-H woodworking leader, a founding member of the Ridin’ for a Reason benefit tractor ride. Bill was a lifelong member of the Borth Community Church. He found joy in deer and fox hunting, horse pulls, tractor rides, plowing demonstrations, polka music, woodworking, a good Friday night fish fry and baking. He passed many of those joys on to his children, except for polka music.
For many years he served alongside many neighbors, friends and his sons with the Omro Rushford Volunteer Fire Department.
Bill is survived by his children, Ron Carpenter (Shelly Schry) of Omro, Bonnie (Theron) Coats of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mike (Sue) Carpenter, Dan (Jen) Carpenter, and Joe Carpenter, all of Omro; seven grandchildren, Alexandra and Rex Coats, Diesel, Kylee, Liz, Ryker, and Cole Carpenter; sisters, Mary (James) Thompson and Carol (Don) Parshall; a brother, Ken (Kim) Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Mike (Karen) Zimmer, Joe (Karen) Zimmer, and Andrew Zimmer; sisters-in-law, Theresa (Bryan) Paulson, Anita (Jack) Bishop, Heidi (Scott) Horton, and Michele (David) Norse; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife, Dee Dee; a grandson, Mitchell; a sister, Linda Holt; and his brothers-in-laws, Dan “Digger” Nelson, Chuck Holt, Ken Zeitlow, Lynn Nelson, Ray Zimmer; and sisters-in-laws, Al Nelson and Laura Zimmer.
