Richard D. Nyback, age 59 of Winneconne, died Tuesday evening, March 22, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, after fighting a long, hard, and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 18, 1951, the son of the late Steiner and Leota (Sickler) Nyback. Dick graduated from Menasha High School in 1969. After high school Dick pursued a career in the printing industry. For two years Dick was employed with Chief Waste Treatment in Kimberly until ill health forced him to retire. He married Paula Miller on June 4, 1993.
Dick was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester where he had served as an usher, greeter, and on the building and grounds committee. He was a member of the Winneconne Masonic Lodge #186 F&AM and the Larsen-Winchester Lions Club. Dick enjoyed woodworking, camping and spending special time with his children and grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his wife Paula Nyback, of Winneconne; three sons, Chad Nyback and his special friend, Sarah Ofenbeck and her daughter Madelyn, of Pine River; Kurt Nyback, of Menasha; Harry Miller, of Appleton; one daughter and son-in-law, Julianna and Joe Kampo, of Winneconne; two brothers, David Nyback, of Appleton; Dennis Nyback, of Menasha; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley Coon, of Menasha; Carol and Dave Koslowski, and Donna and Kerry Day, all of Neenah. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Craig and Jacob Nyback, Cassandra Miller, Mason, Jensen, and Jozie Kampo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patty and Alan Tegelman, Pam and Jim McLeod, Penny and Bob Bevers, Mikey Olson.
Along with his parents Dick was also preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Debbie Nyback.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, of Winchester, Larsen, Wisconsin, with Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call AT THE CHURCH on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 until the time of service.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Goggins and Nurse Practioner Jennifer Greiner and all the special nurses at St. E's Cancer Unit for all the special care and compassion they extended to Dick. They would also like to thank Dr. Callander at U.W. Madison and all of the wonderful nurses and extended staff for all of the compassion and love they extended to Dick. Thank you also to the ICU unit at St. E's for all of their love and care for Dick.
Dick was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by his family.
